Evaluation of the 7th Programme of the Cameroon-UNFPA cooperation

Le Directeur Général de la Coopération et de l’Intégration Régionale au Ministère de l’Economie, de la Planification et de l’Aménagement du Territoire(MINEPAT), Charles Assamba Ongodo, a ouvert le 17 septembre 2020 à Yaoundé, au nom du Ministre de l’Economie, Alamine Ousmane Mey, les travaux de la revue du premier semestre 2020 du 7ieme Programme de la coopération entre le Cameroun et UNFPA. C’était en présence de la Représentante Résidente, SITI Batoul Oussein.

From the 17th to the 18th of September 2020, technical experts from the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development , and from the UNFPA came together to evaluate the performance of the 7th Program of the Cameroon-UNFPA cooperation which aimes at working for the health , reproductive health especially of the woman and the girl child especially those suffering from Obstetric Fistula; and which seeks to see youths excel through their potentials, from the period 1st January to 31st August 2020.

The program review session, was officially opened on the 17th of September 2020, by the Director General of Cooperation and Regional Integration Mr Charles ASSAMBA Ongondo, representing the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development. In his address he urged all stakeholders to put hand on deck so as to come up with the technical and financial assessment of the implementation of the programme during the period from January 1 to August 31, 2020, possible solutions to improve the performance during the period from September to December 2020,taking into account the context of Covid-19 and equally to come up with an effective knowledge of the State of implementation of the program to date and ways to improve the performance of the program over the coming months.
Mrs Siti Batoul Oussein, explained that, the 7th Programme of the Cameroon-UNFPA was launched in January 2018 with 13.4million dollars or about 6.7 billion CFA francs budget .This year and for the period under review , the program performance rate is 42%. She also announced that the program review , seeks to evaluate their performance from January 1 to August 31 2020, take stock of achievements ; assess major challenges and obstacles; and propose ways and means to improve the performance in order to reach the expected results by the end of the year despite the prevailing Covid-19 context.

 It was in 2017 that the United Nations System Agency for Sexual and Reproductive Health concluded its 7th Cooperation Program with the Government of Cameroon, for the period 2018-2020, which has meanwhile been extended until 2021. This program aims to achieve a world where every pregnancy is desired, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled.
