Ces ressources permettront de financer trois importants projets dans les domaines de l’électricité, l’élevage et l’adaptation aux changements climatiques
On the high instruction of the Head of State, the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Alamine Ousmane Mey proceeded on the 06 April 2020, by exchange of notes with the Acting Director General of the Regional Office, Central Africa of the AfDB and Country Manager for Cameroon, to the signing of important loan agreements, totaling approximately 205 billion CFA francs.
These resources are intended to finance the implementation of three development projects. Namely: (i) the Interconnection Project of the Cameroon and Chad Electric Networks, amounting to 147, 85 billion CFA francs. This funding will optimize the energy resources of the integration corridor through the provision of electrical power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure. (ii) The 55.10 billion CFA francs development project for the Livestock and Pisciculture Value Chains.
It aims to improve the contribution of the livestock and fisheries subsector to the creation of value-added that generates substantial jobs and resources for improving the living conditions of rural populations. (iii) the 4.92 billion CFA francs Integrated Climate Change Adaptation Programme in the Niger Basin aims to promote the preservation of the Basin's ecosystems and improve the resilience of production systems.
For the Minister of Economy Alamine Ousmane Mey, the implementation of these projects is yet another example of the Head of State's commitment to further consolidating Cameroon's economic growth through strengthening the process of sub-regional integration, improving people's access to electricity, the preservation of the environment and the development of value chains in the livestock and fish farming subsector, bringing enormous potential for wealth creation and jobs.
