The exchange of notes was signed on 20 August 2019 in Yaounde, between Alamine Ousmane Mey, the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, , and Tsutomu Osawa, the Ambassador of...

This involves a donation of agricultural equipment worth 200 million yen, or about one billion CFA francs, to help implement the Economic and Social Development Programme. The grant is in line with the assistance provided to our country by Japan, within the framework of Official Development Assistance.

It is specifically intended, through the Rainfed Rice Production Project on Plateaus in Forest Areas (PRODERIP), to provide agricultural equipment support to structures specializing in rice farming in Cameroon, in order to increase production capacity. "On the one hand, it aims at reducing rice imports, improving the trade balance and on the other, strengthening food security", the Minister said.

PRODERIP project which was implemented thanks to the Japan International Cooperation Agency, supports other actions already under way such as the project on rice agronomy and processing financed by the African Development Bank and the project on rice competitiveness financed by the common fund for commodities.
