Le Ministre de l’Economie, de la Planification et de l’Aménagement du Territoire a reçu en audience ce 13 août 2020 à son Cabinet, le Haut-Commissaire du Canada.

The projects carried out by the Magil Company, the Canadian company with the largest presence in Cameroon, were on the menu for discussions between the two personalities. Alamine Ousmane Mey and H.E Richard Bale discussed, among other things, the renovation works of the Reunification Stadium in Douala, the penetrating East of Douala and those relating to the finalization of the construction of the Olembé sports complex, in view of the next African Cup of Nations.
During the exchanges, the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development and the High Commissioner of Canada in Cameroon, reviewed the state of cooperation between the two countries. A rich cooperation which dates back to 1962 and which has diversified into the sectors of rural development, communication and telecommunications infrastructure, microfinance, support to the private sector, and more recently, support to the fight against Covid-19 pandemic, etc.
At the end of the discussions, the two personalities praised the joint progress resulting from the Cameroon-Canada bilateral cooperation. They have together expressed the wish to see it become more dense.
Note that among the fruits of Cameroon-Canada bilateral cooperation, we could cite the organization of three bilateral joint commissions in Yaoundé and Ottawa, the organization of Canadian-Cameroonian economic days and the funding of several projects in the sectors of education and health.
It should also be noted that the most salient experience was the establishment of the Canada-Cameroon Counterpart Fund (FDCCC), intended to support the contribution of the State of Cameroon in jointly funded projects, which made it possible to release 11 billion FCFA and to finance projects in various sectors.
